“Olho de sogra” means “mother-in-law’s eye” and it’s a pitted prune filled with rolled \u201cbeijinho\u201d to resemble an “eye” shape, as indicated by the name – really delicious and funny. It is one of the famous “docinhos de Leite Mo\u00e7a” that made their first appearance in the middle of the 20Th Century. They soon became popular and they are a must at children’s parties in Brazil.
The others classics \u201cdocinhos de Leite Mo\u00e7a” are “brigadeiro” (chocolate flavour), “beijinho” (coconut flavour), “cajuzinho” (cashew flavour) and “camafeu de nozes” (walnut flavour).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ingredients<\/strong>
\u2022 1 recipe of \u201cbeijinho\u201d
\u2022 40-50 pitted dried prunes
\u2022 sugar to coat<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preparation method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Make a “beijinho” recipe.<\/li>
  2. If necessary cook the prunes in sweetened water for a few minutes.<\/li>
  3. Cut the plums in lengthwise and remove their pits, so as to form small vessels.<\/li>
  4. Grease your hands with butter, take a small teaspoon of “beijinho” mixture, shape it in your hand to form a slightly elongated ball and fill prune vessels.<\/li>
  5. Roll the ‘”eyes” in the sugar to coat and place them in mini cupcake papers cases.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Notes:
    \u2022 They taste even better after a few days and may be stored at room temperature for more than a week.
    \u2022 They may be frozen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Yield: 40 – 50 “olhos de sogra”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
