“Caipirinha” is the diminuitive of “caipira”, a word which refers to the dwellers of the countryside in southern Brazil. The true origin of this drink is not known, but nowadays “Caipirinha” is certainly famous worldwide and needs no presentation.
The “caipirinha” was officially recognized by the Brazilian State in 1997 (Decreto N\u00b0. 2.314). The law now in force (Decreto n \u00ba 6.871\/2009) recognizes “caipirinha” as a typical Brazilian drink and says: “A drink \u2026 which has an alcohol content between 15 and 35 percent, \u2026 made with “cacha\u00e7a”, lime and sugar, can be called “caipirinha” \u2026 “.
\u201cCaipiroska\u201d is a caipirinha made with vodka instead of pinga\/cacha\u00e7a.

Ingredients<\/strong>
\u2022 1 lime
\u2022 1 or 2 tablespoons sugar
\u2022 \u00bd glass cacha\u00e7a (pinga) or vodka
\u2022 crushed or cubed ice<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preparation method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Wash and cut the lime into small pieces.<\/li>
  2. Place lime pieces and sugar in a medium glass and crush them using a pestle, then add “cacha\u00e7a” and ice.<\/li>
  3. Cover and shake well.<\/li>
  4. Serve straight away.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
