Bolo moreno (Spice Cake)

It's a very delicious cake, spiced and "flavoured" with typical Brazilian ingredients like coffee, cocoa, cinnamon and cloves. It is perfect for a snack and for afternoon tea.
You can just dust this cake with powdered sugar or glaze it with sugar or chocolate.

  • • ½ level teaspoon clove powder
  • • 125 ml cold strong coffee
  • • 50 ml chocolate liquor
  • • 100 g seedless raisins

1. Sift together all of the dry ingredients: flour, cinnamon, clove and baking powder.
2. Wash the raisins and soak them in the liqueur.
3. Cream softened butter (melted or at room temperature) and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add the eggs one at a time and continue beating until well mixed.
