Banana à milanesa (Fried Banana in Breadcrumbs)

This is a great side dish for a lot of Brazilian recipes and also for  "feijoada". The contrast between the crisp crust on the outside and the soft and sweet banana inside - sweet as well as salty - is very popular in Brazil.

  • 1 banana per person
  • • all-purpose flour
  • • eggs
  • • salt
  • • bread crumbs

Preparation method

1. Peel the bananas and cut each into 2 or 3 pieces (optional).
2. Coat banana with all-purpose flour, dip in beaten eggs and coat with bread crumbs.
3. Deep-fry in hot oil until golden brown and crispy.
4. Place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
5. Serve hot.
