Banana da terra frita (Fried Plantains)

The "banana da terra" (plantains) is a variety of banana that must be cooked before eating. It's better when fully ripe, ie, when it becomes soft, the skin gets very dark and the pulp reddish. The fried banana can be served as a side dish and, with a little sugar and cinnamon, it makes a great dessert.

1. Peel and cut the plantains into thick slices. 
2. Fry over medium-high heat until golden brown on both sides. It will form a crust, because the plantain banana contains a lot of starch. 
3. The fried plantain can be served as a side dish and, with a little sugar and cinnamon, it makes a great dessert.
